How to keep aluminium doors and windows clean

Aluminium windows and doors not only look good but they are easy to clean and durable, which is why they are the most popular choice of glazing.

The material can withstand the changing weather and lasts longer than other types. To ensure you are getting the most from your frames, it is important to keep them clean to avoid potential damage and increase their longevity.

Powder-coated frames require less frequent cleaning compared to the older aluminium frames due to their coated finish. To make sure you prevent a debris build-up, we recommend you clean your product every 3 months.

Here is our Cotswold Windows guide to keeping your aluminium windows and doors clean.

Remove Debris

Ensure all corners have been cleaned to prevent a debris build-up and help the window and door drainage.

Clean

Use a microfibre cloth and soapy warm water. Start from the top of the frame and work your way down to the bottom to prevent water residue. For external doors and windows hose down the area first.

Polish

Once the area is clean, use a soft clean cloth to buff the aluminium and provide a sleek finish. If you have watermark stains use a fine wool steel pad to remove them.

If your windows and doors need a more intense clean, we recommend you contact a professional aluminium frame cleaning company.
