Sky-Frame Bespoke Glazing

Sky-Frame Bespoke Glazing

The site for this stunning home was a former smithy and agricultural yard comprising a dilapidated stone barn and several derelict timber framed outbuildings, and sits within the Conservation Area of this historic town in West Oxfordshire.

The structures that replace the former outbuildings provide a large open plan kitchen / dining / living space and a separate master bedroom suite, both connected to the original stone barn via glazed links and arranged to create a private south facing courtyard orientated to align with the tower of the nearby church. The detailing of these new additional volumes provides a contemporary twist on traditional agricultural buildings that juxtapose the original restored barn. Carefully controlled views from both within and from outside the site create an impressive sense of privacy despite the large areas of Sky-Frame Glazing and being surrounded by numerous dwellings.
